"Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation." ~Matthew 12:37

Sometimes words are not enough to express a particular thought or feeling. No matter how hard you try to arrange and rearrange sentences in your mind they do not to adequate justice to the situation you are facing. This can happen in many different circumstances...a loss for words due to an incredible experience or journey, a "you really had to be there" moment, an uncertainty of whether or not to express your feelings towards someone else, an inability to understand and put into words what exactly it is you are feeling and why, and ultimately a mere human trying...wanting...longing say something out of gratitude to The King, Creator, Saviour and Redeemer. Sometimes words are not enough.

Words have so much power, and yet they seem insufficient in the midst of sorrow...meaningless in the midst of trial...and futile in the midst of grief. They carry so much weight and yet are thrown around until they no longer hole the meaning that they did before. Over time words can build you up, calling you into greatness and speaking boldness over your life. But in an instant a word can tear you down cutting like a sharp stone to your heart leaving permanent scars which become a constant reminder of the hurt and pain. Words have so much power.

What words are we speaking into people's lives? Would the world around us change if we were speaking words of encouragement into the lives of the people we interact with each day? Your words have the power to change a person's life which is something we all wish we could do, but how often do we take a couple of minutes to speak into someone's day and just make a moment better for them? You can't expect that God is going to trust you to change someone's life using a song you've written, or a sermon you've preached, or the music you play unless you are willing to daily speak life into the people around you. What words are we speaking?

You never know which of your words will impact others. Some of the things that people told me over ten years ago are still with me. Good things, yes, but also hurtful words of kids saying things to make themselves come across to the rest of their friends as being "more cool"... is our worth determined by what other people think of us? Only God can determine your worth, and He already did that when He sent His son to die so you could live eternally with him if you choose to. That's how much you are worth to Him. Are you willing to pass the chance to infulence someone's life because of what your "friends" might think? Your words will impact others.
