In The End

Today marks the end of the #100daycreativechallege. This was an attempt over the summer months to seek "Thin Places." - The Celts call the space, both seen and unseen, where the door between the world and the next is cracked open for a moment and the light is not all on the other side. God shared space. Holy.

What did this look like in the end? It looked like proclaiming "Let there Be Light", "Beauty Beheld", being "Planted", understanding that "The Lord is my Shepherd", "Wasteful Worship", "This and That", "Making Time", "Surrender" and most important of all "Others". These have been the titles of the blogs I've posted every 10 days over the past 100 days. The end though, is only the beginning.

Ancient Paths to Thin Places // Robert Fergusson

Jeremiah 6:16 / This is what the Lord says:“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

STAND: That you may hear / Isaiah 30:21 / Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. //

LOOK: That you may see / John 1:35-37 / The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.

ASK: That you may receive wisdom / Acts 10:5 / Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.

WALK: That you may know / Isaiah 43:2 / When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

FIND: Rest is where you will find Thin Places / Psalm 62:5 / Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.

So here at the end is where we must begin. We must set our hearts on spiritual pilgrimage. It is an every day choice to follow directly footstep for footstep in the track of Jesus and of those who have walked the ancient path over the years.

1 John 2:6 // Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

Not for your sake alone, but for the next generation to have a clear set of footprints that won't lead them astray.

Psalm 84:5-7 // Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.

1) Pilgrimage is blessed

2) Pilgrimage is empowered

3) Pilgrimage is transformation

4) Pilgrimage is directional
